MAME Arcade Game Fun With a pcDuino

This tutorial was adapted from Ben’s blog: MAME Arcade Game fun with a raspberry pi.

It turns out that the same steps used to install MAME can be used to install MAME on a pcDuino.

$cd ~
$sudo wget http://sheasilverman.com/rpi/raspbian/debs/advancemame-raspberrypi_1-1_armhf.deb
$sudo dpkg -i advancemame-raspberrypi_1-1_armhf.deb

If etch the software dependencies needed by AdvanceMAME that Moebius is missing.

$sudo apt-get -y install libsdl1.2debian libfreetype6

Run AdvanceMAME for the first time.

$advmame

Sample ROM:

MAME by its own has not much usage. We need to download ROM from mamdev.org.

The following is an example:

$cd /usr/local/share/advance/rom/
$sudo wget http://mamedev.org/roms/victory/victory.zip -U Firefox
$advmame victory

Does this work good enouph to make a setup capable of being put into an arcade game cabinet to make an inexpensive MAME arcade game system?

It looks rather cool. I’d like to try it out.

I have tried it but seems too slow for most of games (even using lower resolution). Someone has any ideas for correct that?
